§ 8-21. Housing code certificate of occupancy required.

  • A housing code certificate of occupancy shall be issued after approval of a rented dwelling or dwelling unit by the code enforcement officer. It shall be the responsibility of each owner to notify the code enforcement officer of all vacancies in rented dwellings or dwelling units and as vacancies occur. The code enforcement officer shall inspect a rented dwelling or dwelling unit no later than two (2) normal working days after receiving an application for a housing code certificate of occupancy. No rented dwelling or dwelling unit may be let unless and until it has been inspected and approved and the housing code certificate of occupancy has been issued by the code enforcement officer.
