§ 8-52. Permit—Required; display; transferability; change of ownership; expiration.

  • No person shall operate a rooming house, hotel or motel unless he holds a valid rooming house, hotels, motel permit issued by the code enforcement officer in the name of the operator and for the specific premises specified therein. The operator shall apply to the code enforcement officer upon compliance by the operator with the applicable provisions of this chapter and with any rules and regulations adopted pursuant thereto. This permit shall be displayed in a conspicuous place within the rooming house, hotel or motel at all times. No such permit shall be transferable. Every person holding such permit shall give notice in writing to the code enforcement officer within twenty-four (24) hours after having sold, transferred, given away, or otherwise disposed of ownership of, interest in, or control of any rooming house, hotel or motel. Such notices shall include the name and address of the person succeeding to the ownership or control of such rooming house, hotel or motel. Every rooming house, hotel or motel permit shall expire at the end of the year following its date of issuance, unless sooner suspended or revoked as hereinafter provided.
